As the density of mailboxes on a per server basis continue to increase so does the corresponding number and size of EDB files and log files on each Exchange Server. Replay off-loads and optimizes the physical integrity checking of the Exchange data stores to the Replay server. Without Replay, it is common that the data store integrity checks consume upwards of 30% of your Exchange server resources.

On subsequent recovery points, Replay validates the changed pages only, dramatically reducing the time it takes to perform data store integrity checks. If the data store is corruption-free, the Exchange logs are truncated on the live Exchange server.
