Replay AppImage Helps California Almond Board Protect an Entire Industry
Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint environments benefit from backup and real-time recovery
Reston, VA, August 11, 2009 – Microsoft Gold Partner AppAssure Software is the California Almond Board’s latest software adoption to help protect their crucial Exchange and SharePoint environments. The CA Almond Board supports the almond growing industry which supplies 81% of the world’s crop. In 2008-2009, California almond growers shipped 1.5 billion pounds of their crop around the world. That’s a big responsibility for the Board’s relatively small staff of about 40 people. Communications between the Board and its constituents are the core of its operations and so adding Replay AppImage from AppAssure was a necessity.
Bill O’Donnell was using tape backup for Exchange data but explains “that doesn’t work for real-time restore.” Also, new web initiatives were on the table that required having a fast backup and restoration system that functioned with Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007. Both Exchange and SharePoint required a backup and recovery solution.
After meeting AppAssure representatives at a conference, Bill realized that Replay AppImage would allow him to conduct Exchange and SharePoint backup and live restoration. “I’m concerned about total uptime so I really loved that,” he says.
Bill implemented Replay AppImage on a weekend and estimates that getting it installed and working for three servers took no more than two hours.
Now Replay AppImage is taking snapshots of the Board’s Exchange and SharePoint applications and related data every 10 minutes. Since Replay AppImage has been in place, the Almond Board hasn’t suffered an outage that would require application or data recovery. Bill knows that he’s covered in case an outage does happen.
