Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) delivers near continuous data protection of Microsoft Exchange and other Windows application and file servers – using disk and tape based backup, with data synchronization up to every 15 minutes and data recovery of Storage Groups and mail databases to within one transaction.

MailRetriever for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) provides full message-level restore capabilities directly from within DPM recovery points. Together with Data Protection Manager (DPM), MailRetriever enables the fast and efficient recovery of Microsoft Exchange items, such as messages, mailboxes, appointments, tasks and notes. MailRetriever permits restores directly to PST files for portability as well as restores back to an original or alternate location on the Exchange Server.

MailRetriever opens any EDB from a DPM recovery point and searches mailboxes, messages, calendars, tasks, notes and folders. The results can be restored to the original location, a recovery folder, or exported to a PST file for portability in just seconds. Browse and search the entire EDB or just a specific mailbox to locate any items (messages, tasks, calendars) and then perform a simple restore.

MailRetriever quickly identifies messages related to e-discovery requests. Simply search for messages containing a keyword, phrase or username, and MailRetriever scans the entire EDB for messages that meet the selected criteria. The results can then be exported to a folder or PST which satisfies the “native file format” requirement for legal and compliance e-discovery.

With MailRetriever, you can view a message’s contents, including all of its attributes. Additionally, you have access to calendar items, tasks, notes and more.

MailRetriever integrates directly with DPM’s recovery points for fast and easy message-level restores and recovery. Simply select the DPM recovery point, locate your messages with the browse and search utility, and MailRetriever does the rest.

MailRetriever requires less disk space for message-level recovery and eliminates the need to stand up a separate server. Additionally, MailRetriever reduces the number of days messages need to be stored in the transport dumpster.
