Errors when Replay Core, kaseyasp.dll on same machine
This article specifically addresses those machines where Replay and a Kaseya Agent (prior to K2) are installed on the same machine. To determine if the Kaseya Agent is running on the same machine as the Replay Core, use Task Manager to search for the file AgentMon.exe as a process running.
Issue
When attempting to create a snapshot with Replay, the data will not transfer and the following errors display on the Events tab or Event Viewer:
Encountered a serious error EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION with a dump created.
and:
A serious Windows error was encountered while processing protection group.
This occurs because there is a conflict when the Replay Core and the kaseyasp.dll are installed on the machine.
Solution
The kaseyaasp.dll needs to be removed. The Kasey Agent does not have to be stopped to do this.
- To remove the kaseyasp.dll, navigate to http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm.
- Download LSPFix.exe and launch it.
- Click the Finish button. A Repair summary window displays showing repairs complete.
- Restart the Replay Services and force a snapshot.
The kaseyasp.dll should be in the box to Remove.
The next snapshot transfer will be successful.
